Disney films

Beauty & The Beast was set in France shortly before the Revolution.  Of course, this means Chip is going to grow up to wave the tricoleur and wear the Phyrgian cap as he sets fire to Beast's manor.

Speaking of, Cinderella was meant to be set in France, and the mice wear tiny red caps like the Revolutionaries.  However, that film appears to take place in the mid- to late-19th century.  Maybe the mice are behind the times.  I've always felt the setting of Cinderella to be more Germanic, personally, but it was definitely intended for France, as they credit Perrault's version prominently and the family names overheard during ballroom introductions sound French.

Sleeping Beauty took place in Fairy Tale Land, which is where I've always imagined such things to take place.  No grounding in the real world whatsoever, and that's fine with me.
