Hi, LJ people. As you can probably guess, Justin got me my typewriter for Christmas! I was quite surprised - he hadn't given me the slightest hint. It takes some getting used to. I have to hunt and peck or I don't hit the keys hard enough to register properly, and all the punctuation is in funny spots. I also can't find the apostrophe. I guess it's this thing on top of the 8 key. You also use it to build exclamation points by typing it, then backspacing and typing . under it. On the other hand, it has 1/4, 1/2 and the cents sign as their own keys, and it makes a pleasing DING! at the end of every line. Huzzah for typewriter!Me typing on my new typewriter

Merry Christmas, everybody!

I am so jealous! I have like half a dozen typewrites like that and they DO NOT WORK!

Rock! I had a typewriter when I was a kid, and they are oh so cool. Good luck finding ribbon for them though.

Very nice! You look so professional in that picture, with the sweater and kick-ass typewriter.

Any office supply store has it (it's still made for adding machines and printing calculators), you just need to wind it onto the spools that came with the typewriter (the ribbon itself is a standard size, but the spools are no longer in production), a task easily accomplished with the aid of a cordless drill.

She's hammering away on it now. She just finished a letter to her grandmother, now she's on a new page with the heading "THE GREAT AMERICAN NOVEL." She's so cute.
