I wanted to make an indicator for the dishwasher, to know whether the dishes in it are clean or dirty without having to poke around inside it. I made this, intending to cut it out and stick it on a 3.5" round magnet we had lying around (thanks, NASA Spacecamp!):


To my surprise, our dishwasher is not magnetic! Justin says that dishwashers AREN'T magnetic, as a rule. But my experience with dishwashers has been that they ARE magnetic as a rule. We cannot agree on this VITALLY IMPORTANT issue! OUR MARRIAGE IS BEING TORN APART OH GOD

I just tested our dishwasher door. The front surface of it is not magnetic, but there's a strip around the edge of the door that is.

Not that this particular little fact helps with the magnet idea, from what I can see.

That's what I mean. The front panel on all the ones I've seen has been a reversible fiberboard or plastic sheet.
