TF2: Escape. Surrender.
From the day he'd arrived, far too long ago, the Spy's entire being had been centered on one thought, the one thing which kept him focussed and fighting: escape.
There was a way in; there had to be a way out. He would find it. He had found his way out of tighter corners than this, before -
The game was fun in its own way - a license to kill, as those silly movies said, and that moment of glee when he had shown off his abilities, had made it past the enemy's defenses, and he pulled out his knife for the final blow made the matches themselves worth the fighting - but "it is hard work, my lord, because I am not free." He fought in order to live here in this cage, and he lived in order to escape from it some day.
He watched. He waited. He planned.
His plans were never set in stone; they had to be fully mutable, they had to take advantage of any bit of give he could find - and they had to, if possible, include the Scout. He had decided that. If there were a way to get them both out, that way would be taken.
But if there weren't -
Well. One cannot be selfless and be a successful spy, yes? It is in trying too hard to put others first that one gets taken oneself...
