I find pictures of dead people fascinating from a sociological perspective.

Books I want:

Evidence
New York Noir
Scene of the Crime
Sleeping Beauty

The first three are crime photography - Evidence is NYC in the 1910s, Noir NYC from the '20s through the '50s, Scene is LA in a similar time period; Sleeping Beauty is Victorian "memento mori" - post-mortem photography.

I'll eventually have to buy 'em new; they're not the kinds of things that show up at Half Price Books very often.

It makes me feel kind of like I'm creepy, that I have an interest in this sort of thing.

i spent like an hour in half price once looking at a photobook of agent orange children.

justin said it was creepy. I just think it was AWESOME.

and then i got a bunch of history books, rape of nanjing, chernobyl, and a couple books about the romanovs.

Did you check half.com? I found what seems to be the right books for fairly good prices. Not knowing the authors, it's hard to be sure - but I've had good luck getting hard to find books there before.
