Mar. 28th, 2004 06:45 pmToday sucked. It's like the forces of Kinko's - the machines, the jobs, the customers - all conspired to make today be as bad as possible. Both of the full-serve b/w copiers went down today - one with constant jamming and horrible streaking when the copies DID come out, the other just dying and refusing to wake back up. One of the self-serves is skewing all the copies diagonally to the left, and we can't figure out why unless one of the rollers that runs the paper through the imager is jammed somehow; everything sucks ass. We had umpty-three billion customers and I had no lunch and Justin had to bring me a Coke from the house so I wouldn't get woozy and pass out (I am the only person I know who does that; I rarely get hungry, I just get woozy and need food to make me better - ok, I'm the only person I know who does that and is not diabetic, and yes I've been tested).
Anyway then we had this other customer who had had copies done earlier in the week from a powerpoint presentation but they came out all screwy because he used a font our computer didn't have on it, so he needed to have them redone, and he brought his presentation in as a pdf file, but then it wasn't printing right - because his slides had a blue background, and powerpoint automatically removes backgrounds and prints black text on a white background, while pdf prints exactly what's on the screen - so we had to get the powerpoint file back from him and I had to go in and manually fix each and every slide so the fonts looked ok and his margins were correct, and that took an hour, and this was between customers at the counter. Then I had to run off ONLY the pages that had to be redone, and disassemble the stapled-together copies and seed in the redone pages, and then collate the whole thing and restaple, and then he needed 35 NEW copies, and the only printer that wasn't broken that was hooked up to the computer DOESN'T COLLATE, so there was hand-collating of 35 sets of 40 pages each to be done, and I only managed to do some of it before it was 6:30 and I was supposed to be off at 6 and will probably get in trouble for having overtime. So I had to call him and tell him we wouldn't have his job ready on time. Dammit.
I hate Sundays.
