Our dinners show the results of Alton Brown's kitchen help. We use his method of cooking thicker steaks in our cast-iron pan; his episode on fried chicken helped us make more delicious chicken-fried steaks that were crispier, yummier, and had less waste-flour sinking to the bottom of the oil. Also, after we saw his butter episode, our butter has never since been prosecuted.

Yea verily Alton Brown is teh woo.

I got my hair cut today, and went to the library, and went to Hastings and bought Aubrey/Maturin #4 (The Mauritius Command), and went to the grocery store to get hamburger meat, and stopped to check the mail - and there was a PACKAGE! A big light package from Georgia! And inside, there was

A PENGUIN!!!

A penguin all for me and completely random and unexpected and YAY! Lise, thank you so much! The squealing from the truck when I opened that box was probably audible up there...

P.S. My new haircut makes me look like Scout. From To Kill A Mockingbird, I mean.
