Jan. 22nd, 2006 03:58 pmWe have a used washer and dryer that Lord Jim was kind enough to sell us extremely cheaply. They're by Kenmore, and they're from the '70s. They work well, but the dryer makes horrible screeching noises constantly the entire time it's running. I have a load of sopping-wet laundry in the machine, and I don't know what to do. We don't even have room to stretch out a drying line in this apartment, so I either have to let all my clothes mildew, or turn the machine on then leave the house to avoid being driven insane by the screeching.
I'm 99% sure the problem is simple - it needs a new belt - but where would I even TRY to find a belt for it? I called Sears, and they don't sell parts.
