It's Time To Pay The Rent.
Mar. 20th, 2006 01:26 amI am going to be considerably short on the rent this month, and to make up for it, I am going to LEGITIMATELY SELL THINGS.
Those things being HANDMADE WORKS OF ART and/or DRINKY THE CLOWNS. There is no set price on this. You can give me $5, you can give me $20. I don't care. In exchange, I will create for you a 4x6 or 5x7 acrylic-on-canvas painting in your choice of subject (or you can subject yourself to my whims), and/or a shiny chrome ceramic statuette of a boozy clown. (I don't make the clowns, though.) (Drinky the Clowns subject to availability.)
We also have ACTUAL SALABLE ITEMS:

VINTAGE CLOTHING/ACCESSORIES
WOMEN'S
A dress from the 1960s which makes me think of Nancy Drew or some other chic little detective girly. It's in a plaid with a tan background and green, orange and brown on top of it (it's not as garish as it sounds). It has a collar and long sleeves and cuffs like a men's shirt, buttons down the front, and has an inverted kick-pleat in the center front. Oddly, it DOES have a belt (self fabric with a brass buckle that could use some polishing), but no belt loops. It is labelled "The Maxi by Lady Arrow" and is a vintage size 14. Its measurements:
Chest: 40
Waist: 38
Hips: 38
Across the shoulders in the back: 15 1/2
Sleeve length: 21 1/2
Overall length: 38

A 1950s sundress in white with a little red plaid trim and a button on each shoulder and large red plaid patch pockets also trimmed with a button. It has thread loops that imply it once had a belt or sash, but I've never actually had the belt - I never cut the loops off because I wasn't sure whether I wanted to try to find a plain red belt to wear with it. It has princess-y darts in the chest and a full skirt; fastens with a zipper up the back; and has a faded label that reads "Mode O'Day" and something about California. It's made to be worn over a crinoline, so it looks weird on the hanger. Its measurements:
Chest: 37
Waist: 30
Hips: Free
Overall length: 41

A 1920s hat in tan herringbone tweed with just a hint of yellow in the weave, made to fit close to the skull like a cloche, with a brim in the front and a wired "feather" made of self fabric. Also two hat pins, heads are 1/2" diameter balls covered in self fabric. Fully lined in brown satin with grosgrain inner band. Label reads "Best & Co, Fifth Ave, New York" and is marked size 22 1/2. Note that because this is meant to fit so neat and close to the head, it runs small. I wear size 22 1/2 in every other hat I've seen, but this one is too tight for me - I would only suggest it if you're normally a size 22 or smaller. It is in PERFECT condition, absolutely like new - it's astounding and adorable and if it fit me I would never ever ever let it go for love or money. In fact, I might NOT be able to let it go, even so... but make an offer if you love it as much as I do.

MEN'S/UNISEX
A very small (it's like a kid's size, probably a M, maybe a L) red Hawaiian shirt. Label says "Pineapple Connections."

A Texaco service station shirt in a heavy green cotton, "Crutchfield & Nelson Serv." embroidered on the back, the Texaco logo and the name "Tommy" on the front. Has a small hole near the placket halfway down. The label reads "Union Made - Lee Chetopa Twill - Sanforized - Size 15 Medium." The style of the Texaco logo dates this shirt to pre-1963.

A whole bunch of Kinko's, FedEx Kinko's, and Staples uniform shirts, if you're crazy enough to want those.

ANTIQUES/COLLECTIBLES/OTHER
A 1960s portable bar set: includes two large aluminum tumblers (rocks glass size), one small aluminum jigger (shot glass size), one can opener, one thing that is a spoon on one end and a fork on the other for messing with your cocktail garnishes, one strainer (not shown, but I know it's around here somewhere), and space for two bottles of liquor (not included).

A tin lunchbox from the early '70s featuring Walt Disney World, including the monorail, the Contemporary hotel, and the Country Bear Jamboree (with thermos that doesn't smell like death! Heck, the thermos actually smells kinda GOOD. When I was a kid my thermoses usually smelled worse than this, and I had to drink lunch out of them every day. Condition is only fair, though, because of three things: 1. No handle. The loops are there, but the plastic handle itself is gone. 2. The enamel on the inside bottom is chipped - see photo. 3. Years and years ago, somebody stuck some masking tape on the outside as a name label. I think it says "Brian Cobb." It's all dried out and flakey now, and would probably come off easily, but I don't want to mess with it because I'm not an expert in such things.

A bowling ball with bag (shipping might run a bit high - it's not marked, but it feels like it's about 16 pounds). It's engraved with "Manhattan Rubber" and the initials "E.R.L."

An extremely large set of 1970s Syracuse China restaurant-quality stoneware dishes, white with rainbow stripes around the outside. They're in varying condition - all usable, but some have silverware marks of varying degree. These would be quite pricey to ship, because there's a TON of them. Just packed for storage with minimal padding they take up two boxes. They're cool, though, and we can deliver in the greater DFW area. no picture
A little folding bag thing in brown leather (a Camel promo from their Casino giveaway, but it doesn't say Camel on it anywhere)

A 128mb MP3 player no picture
Drinky the Clown (I have more than one of him)

A Beethoven Celebriduck

I can also make messenger/tote bags! Twill exterior (pick white, natural, khaki, navy or black) and cotton lining (any color I can find on the quilting wall). I'd be making those bespoke, so it would take a few days.
Also, Justin can make archival-quality prints of any of his photographs in sizes from 4x6 up to two feet wide (that means you could, in theory, get a two foot by twenty-five foot photo printed).
For more information, photographs, or to make an offer on any item, either comment or email me (chikkiboo at sbcglobal dot net).
I am going to offer these on SA in a day or two as well, but I'll give LJ folks first dibs.
PRICING: MAKE ME AN OFFER. I really only have a vague idea of what many of these things are worth (in some cases my only reference is how much we paid for them), so tell me what it's worth to you and I'll tell you whether it's worth it to me.
