Artwork: a 1932 Gasoline Alley strip
Text:
"through the dark city":  The Golden Figure, William Carlos Williams
"city of spires and masts": Mannahatta, Walt Whitman
"someday this old broadway shall climb to the skies": Rhyme About An Electrical Advertising Sign, Nicholas Vachel Lindsay
The font is called "Bernie," and I don't remember where I got it; I have almost a thousand fonts on this PC because I am a giant dork who always wants The Perfect Font For Everything, and I chose this one (although it doesn't reduce well, sadly) because it is a Jazz Age style with ascenders reminiscent of the spires and masts of the buildings.

It has very nice braidwork.  It's a bit too long, so we'll have to shorten it.  I couldn't find anything that would show me what the actual English WWI officers' pistol-lanyards looked like, so we just did something that looked nice.
