Today my shoes fell apart!

I was wearing these boots that were like ripoff Doc Martens and forever and ages old, I mean I think I got them in middle school, but I did love them so.  And it looked like they were properly made with the bodies sewn to the soles, but it turned out that was fake, they were glued on and the stitching was also just through a line of glue.  Utterly bizarre. And today the glue came unstuck!!  So I had to try to keep the soles on by wrapping two dozen rubber bands around each foot, and the edges of the heel still flapped when I walked, and it was ridiculous. 

So on my lunch break I changed into my brown sneakers which I bought new a year or two ago and I stepped in a puddle and my feet got soaked, which is how I noticed the MASSIVE HOLES in the area of the joint of the big toe. 

Luckily Payless was having a buy one get one sale so I got a pair of brown tweed wannabe-Converse and a pair of trainers that are black with a tone-on-tone filigree and some shiny bits on the cheap.

"What's your name?" she asked suddenly.
He raised his eyebrows.  "Dicky Tremayne."
"I meant - your real name."
"Dicky is real enough."
"And the other?"
"Need we go into that?"

... Is Tremayne actually not his real name (the implications of that would be that NONE of the Halos are operating under their right names, since Tremayne is how they all know him, and all of that) or is he prevaricating to Audrey?
