Dungeons and Dragons and Dougs, oh my.

The last time Doug was inport, he came up from NYC (I picked him up, in fact) and spent the weekend. He got together all his old friends and insisted we play a D&D game. I told him straight up that I had never roleplayed before, and he still made me join in. However, he refused to let me play on my own terms - he rolled my character and assigned gender, race, job and name. He said I'd be too goofy with it. So what did I end up with? A female elven ranger - ok - and then he named her Karen.
And I would be too goofy with it.
If he's ever around and wants me to play D&D again, I'm going to play my character as Jack Sparrow. No matter what the gender, race or class is - the personality is going to be Jack Sparrow. Justin and I are the only fannish ones I know, so nobody'd be likely to pick up on it, and I'd enjoy myself thereby.
He's going to be inport in Pascagoula in June or July. I wonder if he'll be in long enough to come visit? We could make him help us move. :) "Hey, you're in the navy, you've got brawn by default. You can help with the sofa."
