Yeah, I emailed him back to thank him for his prompt response and ask whether he wants the original back - he said he'll send a postage-paid return envelope, and show the broken one to his vendor.
If it happens again I'll try to get credit for another ring from him, but a different vendor. Seems like a pretty trustworthy little e-business.
