Well, I went to Kelly Services. The office is in a really crappy strip mall, but it's nice inside. I told the girl I wanted to register for work; she saw that I was carrying my resume and her eyes just LIT UP. Apparently they have a current opening for somebody with Microsoft Word, Excel, customer service and inbound or outbound telephone experience, all of which I match up to. She gave me her card and took my resume, and told me she'd told the woman who was looking for the employees that she'd have some resumes to her by 4:00 this afternoon. "I have to find her more than one," she said. And then she'll call me tomorrow to say whether I'm going in for the job or not. If yes, then I go in, get tested on my proficiencies, get set up with their web-based payroll system (I put my hours in weekly, the money goes straight to my bank account, according to the Kelly Services website), and then go to work. $9-10 per hour, 40 hour weeks - 8-5 with an hour lunch, Monday-Friday. Temp-to-hire - 90 days temping with Kelly, then work for the person who owns the place. It's probably some sort of terrible telemarketing job but hell for $10 an hour and not having to drive out of Greenville I won't turn up my nose right away.
Please everybody hope I get this. It's getting pretty desperate around here.
