The age thing is a funny thing - Justin and I had this very discussion when I suggested Jude Law; the Saint is quite specifically stated to be 28 and 29 in Closes the Case and Avenging, respectively, you see. Mr. Law is 34, and fits the mental image I've developed of Mr. Templar from the books quite well. (It probably helps that I've never seen Roger Moore in the role, nor in fact any other actor, and so have no preconceived notions.) His eyes are very nearly the piercing blue upon which Mr. Charteris lavishes so many adjectives - as Hugh Laurie said, though I'm paraphrasing as I haven't a copy of The Gun Seller in front of me, those extraordinarily blue eyes that very talented people have (http://handson.provocateuse.com/show/jude_law/16); he can do action (http://handson.provocateuse.com/show/jude_law/19) very well; immaculate gentility (http://handson.provocateuse.com/show/jude_law/21), of course, faultlessly; a certain devil-may-care humour (http://handson.provocateuse.com/show/jude_law/11), equally delightfully; and, of course, he's a looker, which I am quite willing to admit is a consideration.
