Apr. 9th, 2004 01:03 amTomorrow, I will bake Justin's birthday cake. It is a Chocolate Coca-Cola Cake purported to be just like Cracker Barrel's February specialty. It will involve THREE mixing bowls plus a saucepan. It contains half a pound of real butter, a cup and a half of Coca-Cola, semi-sweet baking chocolate, cocoa powder, chocolate syrup, buttermilk, and a total of FIVE CUPS of sugar.
I hope they will have milk at his party.
I'll let you know how it goes on Saturday.

Apr. 9th, 2004 10:52 amMy downstairs neighbor got pissy with me once because we were going up the stairs too loud on Friday nights. I bet he'll never complain to me again, now that the people right next door to him have moved in with two or three kids and they SLAM ALL THEIR DOORS and SQUEAL AT THE TOP OF THEIR LUNGS and BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG SQUEAL BANG all the fucking day. I don't know what the hell they're doing down there.
For that matter, I don't know how two adults and two or three children can LIVE in a one-bedroom apartment with 500 square feet of space in it.

Apr. 9th, 2004 10:46 pmOMGWTFBBQ. Every dish in the kitchen is dirty now. Three bowls, two sets of solids measuring cups, two liquids measuring cups, the measuring spoons, a whisk, a wooden spoon, two spatulas, a teaspoon, two butter knives, a saucepan, and of course the pan the cake is in...
The cake was too hot when I frosted it and the icing started to melt so I put the cake in the fridge and now the icing is all marbled with two different shades of brown but it tastes ok.
I'm looking forward to tasting this cake. It is going to be one very rich cake. The cake itself is so dark it's almost black, and it smells delicious, and the batter was very chocolatey (usually you can't taste the chocolate so much in the batter, you just taste it once it's baked). I guess having three kinds of chocolate in it helps, though. (There's a total of 14 ounces of chocolate in this cake and the frosting.)
