Meet Steve!

Steve is a carpenter bee who acts as a sentry on the staircase leading to my apartment. Just as described in that link, he will do a little dance with you when you come up the stairs. The link provided is, of course, not MY Steve, but one carpenter drone is as another, right?

I'm normally terrified of bees, but Steve is so big and bumbly and gentle and slow-moving that I can't be afraid of him. The fact that he's physically incapable of stinging me helps, too, of course - although I didn't know that until just now! I just thought he was good-natured.

Why is his name Steve? Why not?

He is not a froward bee.

Justin posted this picture in his own journal like a week ago, but I literally squee every time I see it because OMG SO ADORABLE! He was such a cute little boy! Tiny!Justin pics make me squee and want to pick him up to cuddle.

Today, at 6:30, right before Denise went home, she called me into her office and informed me that I had been written up for an act of "insubordination" which apparently occurred last Friday, and presented me with a handwritten list of my duties which I am to fulfill. (Assist Express customers, clean and fill all machines, WASH THE FRONT DOORS AND WINDOWS - note that the entire front wall of the store is a window - and I've never been told that it was my responsibility to keep it clean before...) I was also informed that I was told earlier this week that I'm not supposed to take customers' orders, and that since then she has seen my name in the "order taker" field of five orders, and if it happens again I will be written up again. She wrapped this up with informing me that if she doesn't think I'm doing better by May 22 I'm going to be fired.

Tomorrow I'm going to call in sick and spend the day looking for a new job.

Clay says she tried to write HIM up for insubordination last week, but he contested to Doug - the general manager - who was, conveniently, not there when Denise wrote me up today.

I hate this fucking job.

I am so very, very pissed that I do not have an appropriate icon: a very grim LOOK OF DEATH. I am using my Very Grim Serious Pissed-Off Voice.
