I would like to register my ABSOLUTE ASTONISHMENT.

Juniper sent me a letter. It is postmarked 21 June. It got here today, 23 June. It only took two days to get from Pennsylvania to Texas, and it arrived promptly in my mailbox despite the fact that there was no apartment number on the envelope.

I almost did a flip-take.

If I had a scanner I would userpic the little stick figure Jack <3 Stephen she drew at the bottom of her note. BTW FANCY LETTERHEAD OMG. I wish I had company letterhead with my name on it. Fancy!

So didja get the packet yet? Didja didja didja?

I would consider it a damn good life - luxury, even - if I had:

Cable TV
High-speed Internet access
A printer to hook up to my computer
A washer and dryer
Two days a week with no work, which I could spend with Justin (he also having those same two days a week with no work)
A comfortable chair beneath a window, for sitting in and reading and watching birds
Many many books
A dresser to keep my clothes in
Enough money to buy myself one or two new items of clothing per season
A convertible
Dancing lessons
A kitchen with plenty of counter space to work on
$20 per week pin money
A job that I, if not precisely ENJOY, at least TOLERATE well
A pet birdy
A fairly good size of a yard, with trees behind and no neighbors so I could do target shooting in the far back of the land and have a little patio up by the house
A sprinkler

These things would make my life sparkle. In fact, I can't think of anything else I would like that wouldn't just be fripperies. An inground pool, for example, is not really necessary if you have a sprinkler and can go to a public pool or a lake once in a while to swim. Any more clothes than one or two per season would be spendthrift and result in mass accumulation in my closet, and I'd only wear half the things twice. It would be nice to have a specific washer and dryer, and a specific style of comfy chair, and the fine bookcases and barrister's shelves sold by Levenger; I'd like a nice fountain pen and a soda fountain in the kitchen and an entire aviary of parrots; I'd like a sewing room, I'd like a dedicated darkroom, but none of these things are NECESSARY and can easily be mocked up in one way or another or simply "made do" with less or with what I already have.

(I currently have the cable tv and the chair next to a window with a birdfeeder outside. Sometimes I have the two days off with Justin, too.)
