DAY OF SHIT.
Friday (when I almost killed Clay because he is a misogynistic asshole with a superiority complex, oh yeah and he's big and strong and manly and important and far more special than anybody else because he's in the Air Force Reserves, plus he's much much better than me because I'm a dirty atheist). There were these two huge boxes of copies that needed to be done by Monday noon. The boxes were full of large expando file folders. I took one expando file folder out of the box (there were about eight or ten folders per box) and got half of it done before I went home on Friday night. Kevin finished the rest of that folder that evening. On Saturday, they had only 93 customers and did only a ridiculously small amount of money (as I know from doing the dailies), so I don't know how they could be so busy as to NOT EVEN TOUCH THE FUCKING THING, but sure enough they left it ALL for us to do today. Oh, and they papered the entire store with notes informing us that we had to finish it by tonight or else and not do anything else and not stop to help any customers and stuff.
That note specifically said that there was nothing else in the store that needed to be done. Well, guess what? Not one, not two, but THREE customers came in to pick up jobs that were due today and WERE NOT DONE - were, in fact, HIDDEN ON A SHELF UNDER THE GLUE TABLE. Jobs that were taken on Saturday morning! And I got yelled at by this guy because his copies weren't done, and I hadn't even realized they EXISTED because the Saturday shift had hidden them and told me they weren't there so I shouldn't bother looking!
And then, of course, the guy who yelled at me needed copies off a CD, and when I tried to print them the Fiery server that hooks the copying machines up to the computers so they can work as printers decided that the copiers didn't exist and wouldn't connect to them and there was nobody I could call for help because it was Sunday.
And then the printers in the express computer room weren't hooked up either! See above as to likelihood of getting them fixed!
And then the high-speed full-serve copier, which I was using to delve through the pile of litigation work, decided to break! It was jamming on EVERY SINGLE COPY. Turns out that inside it, just past the fuser, there's this bit with little teeth on it, and the teeth fell out. AGAIN. We have had a tech in to fix the teeth-falling-out problem SIX TIMES in the four and a half months I have worked here. This is RIDICULOUS. So I had to go work on the express machine instead, and that meant I didn't have any workspace, so that sucked. And a bunch of the customers were really, really stupid, too.
And Saturday's crew didn't take the machine counts, either, so I had to waste my opening-the-store time doing THAT instead of other things I was supposed to be doing. I still managed to get the place open in time but I didn't like feeling hurried because of somebody else's neglect of duty.
Actually, my entire DAY consisted of feeling hurried, hassled and frustrated because of other people's neglect of duty. I wanted to scream or cry or beat them all with sticks the entire day. And I worked twelve hours without a single chance to sit down, much less eat the lunch I brought with me, because they only schedule two people on Sundays because everybody else goes to church. And I'm the only person in the store at ALL from 8 until 11, despite the fact that there are supposed to be at least two people there at all times. And even on a "slow" Sunday (it never FEELS slow! The people who come in on Sundays are always really needy and they come in bursts, I guess as each individual church lets out across town and people flock into Kinko's ten at a time) you can't leave one person all alone out there to man the counter. It wouldn't work. It pisses me off that I not only have to spend an entire twelve hours at work, I have to spend that entire twelve hours on my feet.
GRAH.
Anybody looking to hire me away?
