We get a public-access church channel on our cable, and right now it's showing one of the Hispanic churches. I don't speak Spanish so I have no clue what they're on about, but it appears to be God and the Devil fighting over a couple of peoples' souls.
Satan is played by some guy in a cheap Darth Maul costume.
Now there's Jesus hauling a cross made of 2x6s, being whipped (with tinsel!) by a pair of centurions clad in gold lamé tunics, SKIRTS, and cardboard helmets.
Jesus is wearing a white muumuu with blood painted on.
There's a very, very small child sitting on the end of one of the aisles staring at Jesus in horror.
And the centurion just poked Jesus with a kid's plastic knight's axe.
The front cameraman just walked right across the shot in silhouette.
The guy whose soul was being fought over earlier is lip-synching with the taped music they're playing. Ok, Jesus just got down and is, like, nodding at the guy while the guy lies on the floor crying or something.
I'm pretty sure the choir is miming whipping Jesus themselves now. They're making that arm motion while they sing, anyway.
I find this all hilariously comical. I'm going to hell.
