Colonial House will be showing on PBS soon (next week, I think?). I'm looking forward to seeing it - I adore "living history" type things. I just hope they KEEP THEIR GODDAMN CLOTHES ON. The Frontier House women spent 90% of their time wandering around wearing nothing but their chemises and maybe their corsets if they felt like it. I don't care HOW uncomfortable the 19th century clothing felt to you, you're there to EXPERIENCE DAILY LIFE IN THE 1800S. Women back then wouldn't have just wandered around in their underwear!!! I'm astounded none of the advisors for the program told them to put their damn clothes back on. And I really hope the colonists have some shame.

When the signups for that were going on I really, really wanted to apply. I would LOVE to try that sort of thing.

I did apply and was soundly rejected. I don't think I'm going to watch it, because I'm sure I'll just spend the time fuming about how much better I would have been.

If you know anything at all about the time period in question, they don't want you. If you have any experience in reenactment, they REALLY don't want you. They want a soap opera, with whiny bitches stripping off their underclothing because corsets are uncomfortable, and skinny-dipping instead of planting the damn fields, and don't let's bother with fertilizing the corn because it smells bad.

Yeah. I strategically did not mention the many years of reenacting, but I figured the part where I have experience with farm animals, cooking over flame and am not an idiot screwed the pooch regardless. I didn't have any hope at all when I applied, really.

Oh, and I did sort of have to tell them how I have to take many modern medications to keep from doing grevious harm to myself and others. That was a deal killer. :rolleyes:
