I don't know how this shit got on my computer. It wasn't there this morning, and I didn't use the computer all afternoon, but this evening my computer was TEH JACKED UP SHIT. Seriously. It had the pox. Google hijackings, random pop-ups, suspicious programs appearing in task manager and reappearing immediately after I closed them... Spybot and Ad-Aware did nothing, so I started manually deleting things and hoping for the best. Justin helped me by doing research - which I couldn't because Google wasn't working - and now, three hours later, the beast appears to have succumbed. I suppose we'll find out for real in the morning, and see if all the shit reinstalls itself.

There were several .dlls that belonged to the spyware that I couldn't delete because it said they were in use. How can I get rid of them?

Reboot into Safe Mode and try to delete them then. That should do the trick.

Second that--here (http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2001052409420406?OpenDocument&src=sec_doc_nam) are instructions on how to restart in Safe mode if you don't know how to do that.
