One little thing that really annoys me is when people on message boards or in journals or whatnot write "th'" instead of "the." I don't know anybody who actually talks like that, and it's just too fucking cutesy. Are we in a goddamn Little Orphan Annie strip? ARGH. It's not even saving a keystroke, like writing "u" for "you" or what have you - it takes just as much time and effort to type an apostrophe as an e. It just looks stupid. If you do this, please stop.

I've hypothesized that hunt-and-peck typists do see a significant time savings when they pull shit like that. But they should cut it out anyway, because they're already doofuses for not learning to type with more than two fingers properly; they shouldn't compound their errors.
