My mom sent me a $50 gift card to JC Penney's and I got it yesterday. Since the mall is right next door to Staples, and they had a pretty sweet sale going on, I went over after work last night and bought a pair of jeans with no holes in them and four new fashionable shirts. Two of them are plain-color tshirts, but in nice sherberty colors (icey mint green and summer-sky blue) with pretty feminine detailing; another is a t-shirt with nice sherberty stripes, and the last is this deal with a white ribbed tanktop and a green... I want to call it a spencer - a 3/4-sleeved overshirt that only comes down to the braline and ties in front under the breasts. I was skeptical of the fashion at first but when I tried it on it did look flattering, so I went with it. Also it was on sale for very very cheap so yay. I figure if all else fails I can slit the threads attaching the tanktop to the spencer and wear it on its own if necessary. I felt very nice buying new clothing all for me without feeling guilty for it. I also went to the shoestore to see if I could find new work shoes - the ones I have, I've been wearing every day for more than two years, and they show it. The soles have split in half and the inserts that keep the heels stiff have broken and folded under the heel of my foot; it's uncomfortable to say the least. Of course they didn't have anything comfortable, halfway attractive, affordable and basic black. Nothing they had was more than two of the four requirements. Disappointing. You know what they DID have? Saddle shoes! Honest to god saddle shoes in my size! Also the best galoshes EVER, with patterns on them and buckles - and I really wanted to buy a pair - it floods here a lot, and it would be nice to have mud boots. But I need work shoes first... maybe in a few weeks when the money comes in I can have patterned galoshes.
