We made it up in the car last summer (we make up many movies in the car) and never wrote it down; we've forgotten most of the details but the skeleton remains.
HEIST

Denis Leary as The Cop [a plainclothes detective]
Jason Statham as The Driver
Brad Pitt as The Brains
Jude Law as The Guns
??? as The Other Guy
Ten Thousand Federal Reserve Notes Of Varying Denominations as The Money

THEY ARE STEALING
lots of money

THEY STEAL IT BY
going into a bank; The Driver gets in an argument (don't remember what about but may have been some sort of english vs irish thing) with The Cop while in line and punches him out, causing [legolas] A Diversion [/legolas] so that The Brains and The Other Guy can jump the counter and clean out the drawers into briefcases.  The security guard is actually The Guns in disguise, and he covers their exit.

THE GETAWAY VEHICLE IS
frickin sweet ['72 Pontiac Bonneville, burgundy beater]
actually not the getaway car after all ['06 Dodge Charger, black]

SO WHAT THEY DO NEXT IS
The Driver and The Money get into the Charger, right in front of the door, and speed off ostentatiously.  The Cop comes to just in time to catch the Charger's exit; he runs out to his car, calls it in, and proceeds to give chase.
Everybody else walks around the side of the building and gets in the Pontiac in an alley.

AND THEN
a high-speed chase ensues!  All the cops are following the Charger, which eventually runs a red light; The Cop, leading the chase, is t-boned by the Pontiac, allowing the Charger to slip away.  [he was off duty, in his own car, didn't have a little wibbety light, and so can't even get the guys in the Pontiac in trouble for hitting him]

AND THEN
some investigation, another robbery, another chase, some hijinx

THE PARTY
The guys are enjoying their ill-gotten gains, drinking cigars and smoking expensive liquor, in a private room at a fancy restaurant, when The Cop kicks in the door and says some brilliant line.

THE DRAMATIC TWIST IS
that it turns out the cop was in on it all along and was mad because they didn't invite him to the party.

THE SONG OVER THE END CREDITS IS
brooklyn is burning down the discotheque discotheque

I think this would be great, but I like Denis Leary as the cop. Then again I like Leary in almost everything i've seen him in.

Yes, Denis Leary is in all our movies. We even shoehorned him into the India Story even though there's not really any excuse for having him there.
