At work the Halloween thing is each workgroup works as a team and has a group costume theme and decorates their little cubicle area.  Ours was going to be either the Roaring '20s or Hee-Haw.  You know where I cast my vote.  Well, it lost.  It's fucking Hee-Haw.  I have never seen an episode of Hee-Haw in my life.  How the hell do you dress up for Hee-Haw?  My flapper dresses and charming cloches are laid by the wayside; my recent rediscovery of the art of dressing one's hair with brilliantine (a fancy word for Vaseline) will go unnoticed by the rest of the world; I am left utterly bereft of any goddamn clue.

It was apparently a near-tie; I led the younger contingent (and the group's only two males, who looked forward to being gangsters) on the Roaring Twenties side, but the other half of the workgroup is overweight middle-aged Texan ladies, and when they brought in a new hire who is also an overweight middle-aged Texan lady, the vote was swung.
