Isn't this kind of against federal law?

Apparently we are not supposed to feel as if "patrolling in full battle rattle ... at home" is a bad thing, we are supposed to celebrate because lol we wanted them to bring home the troops and hey they are :V

Who needs that pesky "posse comitatus" thing anyway?

an on-call federal response force for natural or manmade emergencies and disasters, including terrorist attacks.

i'm not sure of the legality, comitatus aspect, but it reads like they're a support/action element. which honestly is usually a role the NG steps into in these situations anyway. so at this stage it could be a non issue.

The National Guard is not the United States Army. There are specific and importance differences between the two.

well yeah, having said that if they're being deployed in the manner specified under the article, then i'd rather the regular army run CAS-EVAC, Field aid, search and rescue and virtually any other disaster related efforts than FEDGov which takes three weeks to sort out what it's ordering for lunch, or the local first responders, who are subject to extremely limited resources.

but as it plays out, this isn't in violation of Posse, which is more slanted towards the civil unrest/ law enforcement angle. So should they deploy for something outside the aforementioned scope, then hells yes it's on.

The NG is the Army for purposes of going Over There. Now they're having the real Army do NG duties when home on vacation because the NG has all been called up to go to the Sandbox?

In other news, "battle rattle" is right up there with "unass the chopper" for awesome military phrases.
