I like how we elected a black dude but voted against all the gay marriage shit that was available state-to-state in local elections.  And you know it's all gonna get swept under the rug because LOOK AT HOW UNBIGOTED AND INCLUSIVE AMERICA IS NOW THAT WE HAVE A BLACK PRESIDENT, EVERYBODY KNOWS IF YOU DO ONE THING RIGHT YOU MUST BE RIGHT ABOUT EVERYTHING and besides gay people don't count because god said so

I personally find it far, far more telling that huge numbers of people voted to actively exclude gay people as a class from marriage and adoption rights than that a slim majority decided to give a single super-charismatic half-black politician from the opposition party a go during a time of economic upheaval.

Needless to say, this has not been a popular view among my friends, so I am mostly keeping my mouth shut.
