Terry could never exactly recall, at the time or afterward, whether he'd gotten in with that particular little fast set by knowing Roddie or whether he'd met Roddie by hanging with them. In fact, the entire weekend which had resulted in becoming a certified and certifiable Flash Cove was a bit of a blur, but he was glad of it, however it had happened.

They all had silly nicknames, just as one would expect; Rowdy Roddie fit its owner incredibly well, Robbo the Yobbo wasn't as bad as one might have expected, but Terry the Terror never entirely caught on in the common parlance despite how terrible everyone swore he was. Toffee went over slightly better, but even with this name becoming more or less standardized he was usually just called by name.

"Terry, Terry, quite contrary, how does your garden grow? With silver bells and cockle-shells if you know what I mean - " Terry, of course, accepted this bit of rhyme on multiple occasions with nothing but good humour. Roderick, of course, broke someone's nose over the implications. This did nothing to affect anyone's reputation for the worse.

("Oh and just what the fuck was that about, eh?" Slamming Terry against the door and stepping in close, all pride and jealousy - Terry in his turn all overacted innocence and teasing protestations, playing up the toff and pushing buttons, playing it as a game until Roddie grabs him roughly by the hips, forces Terry's legs apart with his knees, pins him hard as he gropes at him and bites roughly at his neck. "You're bloody mine and don't fucking forget it, you poncey fucking /git/.")

Everyone gets jealous because everyone has this lingering sense that one day they might not be the most interesting person in Ponce's world.

and this is about when punches start to fly and ponce can't even sit back and be smug about people fighting over him, like he used to when it was him and roddie and roddie throwing into some random jackass they'd run into, because he has no side in this fight :C
