There are some things that can try the patience of a saint. His had been tried and broken, snapped into a cold and brittle thing inside his chest. There would be no more trickery, no more half-jesting mind-games, no more mercy. The Saint was marching on crusade, and he would bathe in the blood of sinners before he took his rest.
