the three-hour spyware battle of DOOM

I don't know how this shit got on my computer. It wasn't there this morning, and I didn't use the computer all afternoon, but this evening my computer was TEH JACKED UP SHIT. Seriously. It had the pox. Google hijackings, random pop-ups, suspicious programs appearing in task manager and reappearing immediately after I closed them... Spybot and Ad-Aware did nothing, so I started manually deleting things and hoping for the best. Justin helped me by doing research - which I couldn't because Google wasn't working - and now, three hours later, the beast appears to have succumbed. I suppose we'll find out for real in the morning, and see if all the shit reinstalls itself.

There were several .dlls that belonged to the spyware that I couldn't delete because it said they were in use. How can I get rid of them?

Merriwether Lewis was manic-depressive, and eventually got himself into major governmental debt, became addicted to opiates, and killed himself.

His manner of suicide confuses me. He shot himself. Twice. First in the head, and then in the chest. That's a man who is BOUND AND DETERMINED to kill himself.

Especially since pretty much all he had available to him were single-shot weapons*. I know that logically he must have just had two, or something. Because I really can't imagine giving oneself a greivous skull wound then stopping to reload.

* It was 1809, the same year as my gun is associated with.

Seriously, he shot himself in the face AND chest. The mind boggles.

Poor guy.

Mom bought the plane tickets - found a really good deal - we're flying on Northwest, from Shreveport to Hartford, and spending the evening with Sara and Vince, before the wedding on Friday. Mom and Dad are paying for all the film and processing and I cannot express how much I am anticipating my trip back home!!!
