Jeeves is pretty much my role model for customer service.  Ever-polite demeanor, constant semi-smile, no unnecessary chatter, agree (rather noncommitally) with whatever they say no matter how retarded it is, and secretly hate them.

Not that I think Jeeves secretly hates Wooster. Quite the opposite.  I think Jeeves is quite fond of Wooster in exactly the way that one is quite fond of a puppy who gambols adorably but chews the furniture every time you let him in the house.

My mother has gifted me with an amount of money earmarked specifically to expand my wardrobe of work clothes.  I need to purchase some pants that aren't denim, and I'd like to get a skirt or two as well - as many basics and multipurpose items as I can find.  I'd also like to buy a pair of shoes.  These shoes are intended for interviews and for wear at a desk job.  They need to be appropriate to wear with trousers or a knee- or calf-length skirt.  I'd prefer them to be flats or very small heels (I'm already tall and don't want to be taller).  I have no knowledge whatsoever of what is currently fashionable, and very little knowledge of what is considered to "go with" other things (I could accessorize a historical garment easily, but my modern wardrobe is, shall we say, eccentric, so I'm not sure I can trust my own taste for interviews and such).  Would a pair of rounded-toe ballerina flats be appropriate and stylish?  What other recommendations do you have for my wardrobe shopping?
