As a result of our external storage drive dying, I've lost all my Christmas music.  I want, very much, to get into the holiday spirit this year, and so I make this appeal to you, dear readers, a few weeks early: Could you be so kind as to send me a few of your own favourite Christmas songs, whether they are traditional, modern, etc?

I'm personally fondest of the ones that can put me in mind of Christmas in the '40s - things sung by the Rat Pack (or their modern torch-carrier Michael Buble) - although I absolutely adore the song "Christmas Wrapping" by the Waitresses, and also like instrumental versions of things like "Ding Dong Merrily On High" and such.  I'm pretty easy to please, as long as it's not "Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer" or "All I Want For Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth."

Who am I to disobey the Master (icon)?

Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, Judy Garland (http://download.yousendit.com/1BEE4BF31939E0C6) - I'm pretty sure this is required listening. It's written somewhere, seriously.
Santa Claus Is Coming to Town, Tommy Dorsey (http://download.yousendit.com/5BAABA3129353C97) - You better swing out!
A Johnny Ace Christmas, Squirrel Nut Zippers (http://download.yousendit.com/92708AD8479D6C57) - Have a very noir Christmas.
Sleigh Ride, Squirrel Nut Zippers (http://download.yousendit.com/705B3F0A6C1C6AC9) - this is just fun.
Merry Christmas (I Don't Want to Fight Tonight), The Ramones (http://download.yousendit.com/E056685137FE5D27) - in case you're getting tired of retro-swing and want punk rock. Also good for on the way to family gatherings.
Purple People (Christmas in Space), Tori Amos (http://download.yousendit.com/4D12B7C17352E103) - Makes very little sense, being Tori, but pretty and blends nicely with Christmas melancholy.
At the Christmas Ball, Bessie Smith (http://download.yousendit.com/42BBE6E3148B6293) - in case you're getting tired of the sappiness and want a little debauchery.
I'll Be Home for Christmas, Bing Crosby (http://download.yousendit.com/A0BCE9EF523D4889) - because you've got to have a little sappiness.

Also, check out [livejournal.com profile] lunatunes. It's f-locked posts only, but truly awesome, and someone just posted a mass of Christmas music.

Dude, it had never occurred to me that there was Christmas punk.

That Squirrel Nut Zippers "Sleigh Ride" was one of the things I used to have and adore, so it's good to have it back, and I shall surely enjoy the rest of 'em, too.
